Account Information

Treads.nz is currently invite-only - an existing member can send you an invite from their /account/invites page, which emails you a code to sign up with at /register. If you don't know anyone on Treads.nz yet, you can also submit a request for an account and our team will review it.

Yes. Use the "request an account" option on the registration page - you'll just need a username, email address, password and date of birth. An admin reviews requests and you'll get an email once you're approved.

Treads.nz includes a marketplace for buying, selling and trading, so we require members to be 18 or older to register.

Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. We'll email you a link to set a new one.

Head to your Account page - you can update your email, profile details and photo from there. Changing your email requires clicking a confirmation link we send to the new address.

Get in touch via the Contact Us page and our team will help you close your account.
What You Can Post

Status updates, sneaker photos and albums, and posts on the community board - anything related to your collection, pickups, releases, or the sneaker community. You can also list items for sale or trade in the Sell or Trade section.

Yes - keep it respectful and on-topic. No harassment, hate speech, spam, illegal content, or promotion of counterfeit/replica products. See "Community Guidelines & Reporting" below for the full picture.

Definitely - that's a big part of Treads.nz. Organise your photos into albums from My Albums, and set each album's privacy to public, logged-in members only, or just yourself.

Trader listings can be flagged as adult content, which hides them from logged-out visitors. Adult content outside of that context isn't permitted on Treads.nz.

Links to relevant sneaker news, your own shop/socials, or related content are fine. Links that are spammy, misleading, or unrelated to the community may be removed.
Who Can Do What

Every approved account is a member and can post, follow, message and trade. Moderators review and approve Sell or Trade listings and help keep the community on track. Admins additionally manage site content (like this FAQ, Support and News pages) and review account requests.

New listings are reviewed by a moderator before they go live, to help keep the marketplace genuine and on-topic.

No. Each album can be set to public (anyone), logged-in members only, or private (just you) - other members only see what an album's privacy setting allows.

Any logged-in member can start a conversation with you from your profile. You're always in control of your own replies.

You can follow and unfollow other members freely, and your home feed shows posts from people you follow. If someone's posting is unwelcome, you can hide their posts or hide them entirely from your own feed.
Buying, Selling & Trading

List trainers, boots or socks with a title, description, price, currency, country and up to 8 photos. Once a moderator approves it, your listing goes live and other members can view and contact you about it.

Yes - every new listing (and any edit to an existing one) is reviewed by a moderator before it's visible to other members, to help keep the marketplace genuine.

Treads.nz doesn't process payments or handle shipping - trades happen directly between members, so use the same care you would with any private sale: verify authenticity, agree on payment and delivery details up front, and be wary of deals that seem too good to be true.

No - listings must be for genuine, authentic items. Promoting counterfeit or replica products isn't allowed and listings found to break this rule will be removed.

Listings have an expiry date. Once a listing is close to expiring you can relist it for another 30 days.

Reach out via the Contact Us page with a link to the listing or profile and what happened, and our team will look into it.
Community Guidelines & Reporting

Harassment or bullying, hate speech or discrimination, spam, scams, promotion of counterfeit/replica products, illegal content, and impersonating another person or brand.

Message the Contact Us page with as much detail as you can (a link, screenshot, or description) and our team will review it. You can also hide a status or a member directly from your own feed using the options on each post.

Depending on how serious it is, this can range from content being removed, a formal warning, to your account being suspended or closed.

See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for the complete details.
